Lori G. Levin Moderates Panel on Cook County’s Mental Health Court

Yesterday, I moderated a continuing legal education program for the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois on Cook County’s Mental Health Court. The Honorable LeRoy K. Martin, Jr., Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division; The Honorable Lauren Edidin, Mental Health Court Judge, Second Municipal Division, and The Honorable Lawrence P. Fox (Ret.), Director of Specialty Courts, Office of the Chief Judge, spoke on the workings and successes of this and other specialty courts.

Problem-solving courts are essential to address the social and individual problems that impact the criminal justice system. The audience was engaged and actively participated in interacting with the judges who gave freely of their time.

It was a wonderful program and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to help publicize and educate a program that assists so many.
