The Cook County Sheriff has announced that his office will soon implement new procedures for persons wishing to visit persons in the Cook County Department of Corrections. The sheriff's inmate locator site posted that announcement at http://www2.cookcountysheriff.org/search2/. Persons seeking to visit inmates will need to complete a form which must be presented in person or emailed to the sheriff's office. Inmates will notify the potential visitors if the inmate agrees to such visits. Inmates will be allowed to approve up to seven visitors in addition to attorneys and clergy.
The Cook County Sheriff did not state the rationale for the new policy but it is presumed to be for security reasons.
